Suggestion on colour for open plan extension

Hi,

Looking for some guidance on this group. We are in the process of redecorating our west facing open plan kitchen/ dining/ family room extension and struggling with a colour to go with our existing furnishings, features and flooring etc. At the moment it’s a light colour and looking to go more darker. There is no natural breaks in the walls so guess it will still need to be one colour all around as is currently. It’s a high traffic area so want a durable paint so avoiding F&B estate/modern in this instance. We do like the ultra Matt paints that are green grey such as Johnsons - Thyme Green, Tikkurila - Arctic Willow, Tikkurila - Nephrite . We will be tiling or having a wrap around splash back around the kitchen wall so we would tie this into the overall colour we select. There is plenty of natural light from skylights and lanterns. We want to have a more cosy feel to the room and hence reason to go darker but at the same time link in with the garden. Any suggestions?

It looks lovely as it is, but if you want a bolder shade then how about Oval Room Blue? It is a F&B colour but you could have it colour matched by Johnson’s if you wished. They colour match all the F&B shades. Another nice shade is Tranquil Dawn by Dulux, a soft sage green.

Just a quick suggestion, if the plumbing works place the WC under the staircase. And place the door so it does not open towards the living or kitchen areas. Please also post some photos of the house as it looks from the outside.

I would ordinarily recommend that you don't mix cream/ivory with white as they can often clash, but you have pulled it off with the worktops! bringing in more white in the form of the glossy table will only enhance the look you have already created. the only other option would be a glass table with white chairs or stick with the accent colour of subtle grey for the chairs.

I like the idea with the pink highlighted edge. This opens u the kitchen dining space but keeps the lounge and study separate as you wanted. I would add bifold doors if possible along the back wall of the dining room to make it feel even bigger. Hope this helps

Thanks Jonathandb1972. That looks like a lovely layout I really like the open plan but our driveway around the house will come from the left side so that's why we had thought of addiing the extension to the right. I'm sure we could use your idea on the right side and it would still throw in plenty of light. Regarding the rooms: the long room to the right is the current kitchen which is currently very dark and cold, the small room behind this is the utility, the two rooms to the left of this are a front living room and back lounge. The rooms left of this are 4 bedrooms a bathroom, hotpress and outside toilet. Thanks again for all your suggestions.
