Living Rooms Design Dilemma

Long narrow lounge

We’re getting re-plastered and we were going to go dark (Hague Blue?) behind the sofa to blend it away… or do we go Benjamin blue across the chimney breast and both recesses …. Blue on the chimney and setting plaster everywhere else? 😵‍💫
Not quite sure which would be best to as not draw the chimney breast into the middle of the room.

Any radical ideas also accepted!!

If you paint either of the long walls dark and then use setting plaster on the other walls you will just make the room look longer than ever.

You asked for radical! - paint all the walls in the dark blue and then use the setting plaster on the ceiling and the built-in cupboards and woodwork.

Well funnily enough that was the original plan before I got scared!!!! Then I thought I’d reduce it to either of the sides but couldn’t work out which. I’d read if you pop the dark behind a dark sofa it “blends” that away, but more folks seem to do dark on the chimney.
Just rather enjoying the setting plaster with the mid- century furniture.

Thanks for the suggestion I’ll see if I can find a picture of that. :)

I'm trying to do the impossible and decide on a Kitchen design for a very narrow Kitchen. 170cm wide and 375 cm long with 2 doors, a window, a boiler and a radiator to take into account! I'm thinking of one wall with 40cm depth units and on the other wall 60cm depth units leaving a 70cm galley space. Is this completely unworkable? I know it will be awkward but am willing to put up with that for the storage and counter space, my concern is that 70cm is just to narrow a space to be feasible. This is a house for 2 people max.

can that wall be remover between kitchen and table? if so could you put a narrow island in kitchen with a table/counter running off of it into current dining area. this would be alot narrower and allow for more storage unser the window plus open up ypur living space more. also furniture is very dark for a small space and table and chairs seem very big. could you paint ceiling white and light fixture a brighter colour.. all these things should make it seem bigger. the picture i have attached would be quitw narrow and just an idea i saw on houzz.

We converted the garage to a sitting room to a few years ago, we are adding sliding doors out to the patio/garden and a wrap around window. I am struggling to design the inside. where should the couch go, what size, where should the tv go, how do we use the rest of the room... The sun shines through the side window in the evening.
