I’d start by making a list of what you do like about it & what you don’t like. Then figure out what budget you have for any changes & prioritise the things you most want to change, or that need changing first, eg if you’re planning on redecorating. Have a look at photos on Houzz or Pinterest to see what colours or styles you like - I’d go by first impressions rather than spending ages deliberating, then look to see what comes up regularly as things you like. E.g if you find you like / save lots of photos with green walls, then that will help to lead your decisions on your own home.
I think we would go for a light colour theme. Like cream/beige walls to open up the space, a new lighter sofa on the opposite wall,a swivel chair on the window area and a 2 seater sofa on the opposite side of the window. But we are not sure if it is going to work, I don't really have vision. I'm terrible.
I agree the current sofas do look quite heavy. I don’t see why a light colour scheme wouldn’t work. It should look good with your wooden floor. I think with lighter scheme you need either some pattern or texture, eg possibly a fluffy rug, woollen throws / cushion covers, some natural fabrics to stop it looking bland. I’d def recommend looking through photos of similar styles (if you haven’t already) to pick out the elements that make a room look pale, cosy & welcoming rather than pale & dull.
We've hired a plasterer to skim the ceiling and ordered a new sofa. We're gonna move it to the other side, then on the window seal, iI was thinking to put some book shelves around it and make it inyointo a reading space. Get rid of the wallpaper, everything painted white, a nice beige cozy rug and iI think the room is complete. Aw, andgetand get rid of the horrible light/fan.
