TV unit not in symmetry with sofa. What to do?
In my living room I have a TV unit and sofa that are off centre of each other. The TV unit cannot be moved to be aligned with the sofa because there is a door in the middle, and the sofa cannot be moved because otherwise it will be off centre from the wall lights (which are symmetrical according to the side of the wall they are on).
(Note that in the photo the sofa is not centred exactly with the wall lights, so the photo is a little misleading, and the asymmetry would in reality be more obvious than is shown in the photo)
- What can I do to add more symmetry to the space and make the placing look intentional?
- Also, does it make sense to place the TV in the empty space between the two cabinets or should I try to center it with the middle of the sofa?

last yearMy tv isn’t completely symmetrical with my sofa either as the door into the room pushes my sofa to one side. The thing that looks odd to me is that wall cupboard thingy above the tv unit on the right. What is it exactly and can it be removed? I would put the tv on the lower tv unit, in the middle. You will still be able to see the tv comfortably I feel. Symmetry is not always possible in a room as there are so many other factors to consider. My room (sofa is behind the footstool).

Comments (6)Well good, I'm glad you like them. I watched a Sarah Richardson show once where they were rebuilding the wall where the tv would sit, and there was a small closet very nearby. They integrated all the wires and cables inside the wall and stored the media components in the small closet, so all you saw was the tv. It was great! Comments (81)Hi Lisa, nice sofa. I had a red sofa for 10 years and loved it ( though mine was fabric) I've changed the kitchen/ living room and it stuck out like a sore thumb. I gave in and put in a grey leather sectional one and I must say it's much easier to decorate around. Are you in Ireland? Have you heard of the 1933 company, they have very nice suites. It should be lower and anchored with a proper television console table something long that fits the style of the adjacent dining table also the light fixture that is over the table seems to be a bit too high and out of place with the rest of the furnishings I might get a proper chandelier for that area...See More
