Any thoughts on painting skirting walls and ceiling the same colour ? I was thinking fescue lg but thinking it looks grey and I want mor of a natural tone any thoughts
Painting the skirting, walls and ceiling the same colour can look good but it's not always the best option if you'd like some depth to the space. I can only give you general advice as I haven't see your kitchen, but I'd recommend using different but close shades to the main colour. To create light and space the lightest colour will be best used on the largest surface area, such as the walls, and a darker tone on woodwork.
Given you'd like a more natural tone it would be a more contemporary and give a decorative feel.
Having darker colours on the skirting boards will retain the feeling of space in your open plan kitchen as the walls will appear lighter in contrast.
My best advice is to test out the colour either using a large A3 card and view it during all times of day or using the sticker samples from the Eco/sustainable company Coats which I love as the colours are true to swatch as all natural.
Fescue looks to be a rather lovely taupe/beige. I think Urban’s advice is spot on. I find painting a piece of card (A4/A3) and sticking it to the wall with blue tack helped me gauge the colours in different lights and positions. I would also consider what furniture you already have in a room and make sure the paint colour sits well with it.
Thanks for the images. Goodness that's a terrific space.
I see you have a neutral scheme with low ceilings and dark cabinets. I agree the Fescue will appear dark despite the light coming through the windows.
A warm white in the same colour family would be ideal on the walls. Your floor is a warm neutral so you could have Fescue on woodwork and a white such as Slaked Lime on the walls and a white on the ceiling ( to be cost effective I use the heritage dulux range as you have a lot of area to cover. This would give the effect of blending from the floor upwards.
The trick is to choose a white is to pick a colour you like and see if its in the same sample colour line on the card.
My favourites in the range are the grey based neutrals rather than the yellows as they are basically too yellow.
I would recommend trying the Slaked Lime/French Grey or Portland Stone light ( which I use for a more classic neutral) as these are all the lights I always turn to.
Always try sampling.
