What colour should I paint this fireplace?
Comments (11)Ooh Darzy I like your thinking. Actually the curtains are taupe and a nearly mint green - not stripes more they blend into each other (see pic). But if I got some art picking out those 2 colours that could work. I love teal but not sure about it on this wall. Maybe coral could be nice or is that too on trend? I also have an old chair I need to get reupholstered and was struggling for ideas for that. But a floral pattern with the green and taupe from the curtains and a third colour that matches the art could work well - ideas, ideas, ideas!Thank you Houzzers I knew you'd help me to look at this differently....See MoreColour help needed for accent wall
Comments (6)Instead of doing something like a paint color, why not expand into doing something a little more bold and daring like wood planking or grass cloth, etc.? This will not only help accent your "neutral," kitchen wall color, but will also allow you to continue flow throughout the space and give you a more well rounded and grounded space. I would heavily consider doing something that adds not only texture but depth to the space, paint color is great, but accent walls are a thing of the past! Give your kitchen the POP it deserves and your space will be transformed....See MoreRender & Window colour decisions. Advice on 1930s semi - curb appeal?
Comments (0)Looking for help in choosing colours for Windows and render. It’s a 1930s semi. We’ll be externally insulating it and looking for a textured wet dash finish. We love our white plinth and intend on reinstating it. I’m not a fan of the anthracite grey that’s in at the moment, so will probably favour a lighter colour window. Our window supplier has suggested RAL 9002. Not sure on wet dash render colour, off white/light grey. Any thoughts? We’ll be adding a side/rear extension too which will have a smooth render finish....See MorePainting (Around) Picture Frame Mouldings
Comments (0)I've been abroad for 7 years, and I'm slowly moving into an older apartment in Boston. I have to buy all new furniture and decorations, so I'm taking my time to plan out a home I'll really appreciate. I love the picture frame mouldings in my new living room, but there are some features I want to accentuate and others I want to deemphasize. The paint job isn't great, and the walls have a very strange uneven texture with some obvious patching. They're currently eggshell or semigloss, and I want to paint them with a flat or velvet paint. I also want to highlight the mouldings and make it less of a pure white expanse. I'm leaning into the gray that's already there and am gonna attempt bit of an art deco feel with some gold decorations. To that end, I want to paint the walls with a very light grey, and I'd like to see what others think of my options. Real Photos (pardon the camp furniture): I Photoshopped 3 possible ways to paint the white walls: A: paint outside the frames B. paint inside and outside the frames C. paint everything except the top and bottom trim. If it helps, this is where I'm at with my plan in 3D: It's long enough to do a combo living/dining room. I haven't gotten any furniture, yet, so this is just FPO. I'm stuck with one of those wooden boxes with a grate over the radiator by the windows. This is my first post, so thank you for any advice!...See MoreUser
