You have lots of options with this room. The light is great so I don't think we need to worry about the colour you would like to use. You can use colour to help zone different areas though if you like, as the room is large and you want some distinct areas.
If you don't want to look into using a designer for the space - to help with the layout and furniture. Then I would begin by thinking about what needs to be in the space and how you want to use it - for example, if you sit in the dining room mostly at night then this could be in the darker part of the room whereas if you use the pool table or a seating area in the day and at weekends then move this to the lighter area.
You could try drawing this up in scale using an app or graph paper which will then allow you to plan the layout of furniture and the size of pieces you can use in the room. We usually work on this before we start looking at colours - this is so we can ensure the colours work with where certain focal points maybe or display areas etc.
