Cracked glass...how and what now
Hi everyone,
Hope all is well. Sorry, been away for a long time, v busy with my daughter's grammar exam and work
The refurbishment is almost complete, few things and moving in left, which I will do next month.
Was using a Bosch strimmer brush cutter , to chop some tall weeds in the front yard. Not sure if this was the cause but a day later noticed that the window had cracked.
It's double glazed, so only the outer glass had shattered, with a 'bulls eye' on it
It may be a piece of rock hit it, while brush cutting or some vandal stoned the glass pane or someone tried to break in.
How would I know and what do I do about it?
Didn't sleep last night, as if this was vandalism or attempted theft, won't they do it again?

Comments (17)It looks very pretty. I would look at pics of painted floors versus whitewashed and see which you prefer then people can hopefully help with methods. I've used chalk paint but not on a floor. Annie Sloan sell floor lacquer so you don't need to use the wax which is very time consuming to apply, the lacquer can be rollered on. The only thing I would say is that it does not adhere to I think varnish made in the 80's and I find the White paint coverage is poor although not an issue if white washing. Comments (9)Have you considered luxury vinyl planks? Waterproof, damp mop, easy to replace, and softer on your feet. I have tile in half of my house and wish I could replace it. It's hard on your feet, especially when you're standing for long periods of time in the kitchen. If it cracks, it's a pain to replace. You have to keep plenty of extra on hand for replacement because cracks are inevitable, either from something dropping on them or from settling. The flooring person I spoke with told me they're selling vinyl in even high end installations. He said they just installed 2300 square feet in a million dollar penthouse condo. To respond specifically: - the house faces south so gets the lovely morning (and in the uk, sometimes the only) sun. - the husband has avoided putting plants in the planters due to maintenance and they're generally twee so comments here have confirmed to me that they will be coming out - love the idea of wooden boxes with the spiky plants and grasses - also like the concept of taking out the grass/bed/tree in front completely out and replacing with slabs - yes to lightening the windows - to the Barn company, I honestly don't mind the advice and I'd never seen sloping garage roofs. - nicking ideas from landscaping of new builds....great idea! - finally, Helen Scholes, I'm embarrassed about the spelling of kerb. Once you’ve found a company check out their reviews on Facebook, Trustpilot or Google to make sure they are any good. This is one near me, but I know you’re in Birmingham so too far, but just to give you an idea of what they should offer.
