Lawn replacement options

Looking to replace our lawn. Potentially with clover but wondered if anyone had experience with it or any other similar wildlife friendly options. Current lawn attached. We have a dog and use the garden often so want something that will stay fairly short or can be cut, we are planting out the borders each side with wildflower and other larger plants between.

The most environmentally friendly option will be caring for the lawn you have. You need to mow it once or twice a week when it’s growing, this actually encourages new growth. In late spring/early summer reduce the mowing height over a number of weeks until it is very short to encourage the lawn to be level and to fill in the gaps. Weeding, patch seeding, scarifying and aerating will all help to improve your lawn. I have a terrier that likes to run in circles on my lawn and play fetch. This is a photo of it from last week.

What's the reason for removing the lawned area? Wildlife borders as stated would be sufficient surely

How about a chamomile lawn? It is low growing but not sure how Wildlife friendly it is though.

Hi lots of different options and ideas going on. I had a similar wall and understand how mean it can be to little ones. I bought and put up the expanding wood trellis. This instantly covered the area at a very reasonable price. I then planted quick growing climbing plants. I'm not a great gardener so I cant remember what i had but ask at the garden centre they will advise you. But at least you have a barrier in place to minimize accidents.

Can i stain over varnished pine?

We bought a house built in the 90s. It has varnised pine doors, skirting, stairs etc. Theres nothing wrong with the wood itself,but im not a fan of the yellow colouring. Could i stain it an oak colour? Has anyone tried this? I prefer wood colouring over paint colours. I guess this would be a cheaper option than replacing them all?

It's rather full of weeds and quite patchy, so instead of laying new turf I thought I'd try something different.

Hadn't heard of a chamomile lawn before while researching, will have a look it looks lovely.

For comparison, here’s a new lawn that I put in at a rental property. As soon as it had rooted I started mowing it at least once a week. The first photo was when it has just been put down and the second is six weeks later.
