We designed ours and stuck with our brabantia free standing bin. Once fitted we quickly realised we should have gone for an integrated bin and we retro fitted it into a spare cupboard. Much better.
We also opted for a Bora hob with down draft extractor and we absolutely love it!
Wide drawers (a minimum of 800mm wide). Plenty of sockets. Boiling water tap if finances allow (no need to buy Quooker).
Have an L shaped unit in the corners whch will enable both doors to open. You don’t want to be scrambling on your hands and knees to access corners in a straight corner base.
As others have said. Pull out bin (next to dishwasher), clever corners and wide pan drawers. We've just designed ours and the bit I'm most excited about is drawers beneath the sink!
I guess this question is more about the fixtures and fittings, but for me the most important things in the kitchen are: a set of sharp knives, a good chopping board, and a great coffee machine!
