How should I go about renovating these old 80s kitchen cabinets?
Hi all,
I've recently purchased a house which needs modernisation. At the moment I can't budget in a brand new kitchen so I'm looking to see what I can do with these. Ideally I'd like to paint them white to freshen it up and add handles and knobs.
However, Im not sure if it would work with this design as the handles are built into the oak strip.
I'd love your thoughts and opinions on how I could go about this.

last yearI wonder if could just give them a good scrub and clean them? Those integrated handles were pretty common in the 1970s/80s. I’m not sure how hardwearing painting them will be as I think they are melamine or something similar? However, if it’s just temporary then using a kitchen cupboard paint will freshen them up. Practically every paint company do a kitchen cupboard paint so worth a search.

Comments (15)It is fair comment on not so pretty tiles and unfortunately you can't do much with the floor here because it covers too large area. On a picture you can see only lounge area, which is actually part of the kitchen. Tiles cover floor in the kitchen, lounge area and dining room. Extra large rug wouldn't make it better.
