Which white paint is good for walls?

last yearTry All White F&B, a nice clean white with little yellow. May I also suggest you paint matchpots onto A4 card and move them around the room to envisage how the colour will look in different lights.

last yearEvery white readily available to us on the high street belongs to an identifiable Hue Family.
Near neutral whites from the Green-Yellow Hue Family are often the ones most people perceive as being ’just white’.
How colourful a white appears relates to how much Chroma it possesses.
More Chroma = more colourful (Pointing)Less Chroma = more neutral (All White) (Loft)
Brilliant Whites often belong to the very end of the Green-Yellow Hue Family, heading towards Green. (Cool side of the Green-Yellow Family) They are so light & so near neutral, they are prone to shifting almost blueish in imbalanced lighting. And in somewhat dimly lit areas they can appear shadowy where the ceiling meets the wall.
All White is very light (high Value) + very neutral (low Chroma) but it belongs to the warmer side of the Green-Yellow Hue Family. But it too still needs plenty of well-balanced lighting to be at its best.
Worth noting that most light colours are likely to both darken and appear more greyed when viewed on the ceiling plane. So I’m not fond of these uber light, neutral whites on the ceiling.
Have a look at PPG Swansong/Delicate White also. A soft White without being too colourful. Looks great on the ceiling plane .

Need help picking backsplash tiles and wall paint colours
Comments (9)Thank you for your suggestions and ideas! I love some of the more daring/colourful ideas, but I don't think I'm, personally, bold enough to go with such a contemporary look. I'm going to stick to a traditional/modern style and use large (4" x 8") white subway tiles and dark grey grout. I'm thinking of using a dark grey paint around the kitchen walls and then a lighter shade around the rest of the room, with maybe the dark grey on the wall behind the TV too. Comments (17)It looks very pretty. I would look at pics of painted floors versus whitewashed and see which you prefer then people can hopefully help with methods. I've used chalk paint but not on a floor. Annie Sloan sell floor lacquer so you don't need to use the wax which is very time consuming to apply, the lacquer can be rollered on. The only thing I would say is that it does not adhere to I think varnish made in the 80's and I find the White paint coverage is poor although not an issue if white washing. Comments (0)I need to tile a couple of walls in my bathroom which in the original design were meant to be painted. The painted walls would look better, but it's not possible now. So is there any tips on how to make a tiled wall look more like a painted one. I was thinking perhaps by using large matt tiles with grouting of the same colour? Comments (1)If you painted the wood skirtings (removed in photos) and door frames, in the dusky blue from the tiles then did the walls in white to bounce light around the hallway as they can be a bit dark I don't think it would look clinical because the use of the blue would add a little drama and look very up to date. last yearDifferent companies make their own versions of Pure Brilliant White.
Dulux Pure Brilliant White is an NCS colour. NCS S 0500-N
It’s from the warm side of the Yellow Hue Family, unlike PBW from some other brands.
In balanced, well lit rooms it is likely to appear ’just white’
But, it is both darker (lower Value ) + more neutral (lower Chroma) than FB All White.This is from colour measurements. Not my opinion.
Next to All White that lower Chroma is lkely to appear more greyed.
And again, I wouldn’t choose these uber near neutral whites for the ceiling, for reasons mentioned above.
