Refurbishment progress, anything I can do now planning ahead

Hi,

The refurbishment seems to have picked up a bit of speed in the last couple of weeks.

The bedrooms are painted, with the radiators installed and waiting for the second electric fix.

The kitchen is still being done and the sunroom and living room are next.

Is there anything I can do in the interim, which can help speed things up? I wished to buy 2 double beds. Any ideas where I can get them?

Maybe some other pieces of furniture, such as a TV stand, dressing table etc. I have some basic

furniture, like a dining table, chairs, sofas, bookshelves and study tables.

Also would definitely need a good quality washing machine and dryer.

Any ideas are welcome, thanks

Glad to hear it’s moving on. As far as furniture goes it really depends on your budget. Budget furniture can be bought from Ikea and Dunelm. However, you can buy some fabulous secondhand furniture from eBay, Gumtree or Facebook Marketplace, if you can arrange a van to pick it up. Middle price - I recently bought a bed from Dreams and I love it, so comfy. John Lewis do nice beds too. These are just ones I’ve used. There are so many other retailers, but if it’s a bed go to a store where you can try try them out to make sure they’re comfy. Good luck!

fragle0 ... congratulations on the new addition to your family. Have been following your lovely changes. You probably won't have time to work on the decor for a while. Just wanted to suggest that you try pulling the nesting tables forward to be more in line with front of the chairs & placing your floor lamp to the back of them. This will give a bit more light at night for reading in that area.Also switching the plant by the fireplace & the one on the corner by the sofa.

To put hob on kitchen island or not to put hob on kitchen island?

Hi amfork, I went ahead & put the hob on my island & am delighted I did. I find it really is so much nicer looking out at the kids/my husband & being able to chat to them while I prepare meals as opposed to facing the wall with my back turned on everyone. I put a 4 ring induction hob on the island & put a 5 ring gas hob on counter facing wall. I did this as I have a large extended family & we frequently have get togethers. It’s great for catering for big events. However, I use the 4 ring induction hob on a daily basis. Hope this helps! Best of luck with your project, Claire

My Dreams bed came in two halves but I paid them to deliver it to the right room and they assembled it completely. There is a cost to this but there’s no way I can do it. If you go on their website it will give you costs. They take away the old one too, for a fee. I think Ikea are flat pack?
