Fireplace removal / TV Cabinet

Ed Jones
last year

We are moving into a Victorian terraced house with four fireplaces. We are converting the upstairs reception into a playroom / den with television. We plan to remove the fireplace and mantelpiece and mount the television on the wall.

Does anyone have any clever ideas for using the void? I’d like to avoid a cabinet underneath, or have wires to the shelves on the side. Moreover, I have a Sonos PlayBase that’d I’d prefer not to have to replace with a sound-bar.

I thought we might build a cabinet into the void and thereby hide all the wires, and the PlayBase and the Nintendo etc.

Any thoughts?
