Help with choosing paint colours

Please can anyone recommend any complementary paint colours for Farrow and Ball Skimming Stone?

I chose this colour for our open plan living / dining space, staircases and hallways but I don’t want to paint the bedrooms the same colour. I’d like to go lighter and introduce some actual colour but I still want the colours to seamlessly flow throughout the house.

I don’t want anything that looks grey so I was thinking Wimborne White and maybe another colour. I love green/earthy colours but I don’t know where to start when it’s come to finding ones that harmonise together!

It’s my first post on here so I’m sorry if I haven’t included enough information! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest you visit the Farrow & Ball website which does marry up different shades that compliment each other. It’s hard to recommend colours as it does depend on what aspect a room is, what furniture you have and the type of flooring too.

So really you need colours that work with both skimming and wimbourne? I don’t know if these are going to be too dark but i assume you’re adding accent walls?

Setting plaster should work with both. Or green smoke pictured with SS below. Calke green may also work. Ochre looks nice with SS and would work with the yellow tones of WW. Berry colours look nice with SS but i think would need to be dark to work with WW

Or dead salmon and jitney are quite earthy but i might swap the white to pointing. I’ve used this colour family and really like it

It depends on the flooring, furniture and orientation of the room though. Setting plaster for example i would avoid in a south facing room (been there!)

I can help find this for you in the morning if you haven't already. If you have photoshop, you can grab the RGB value of the color and then plug it into easyrgb.com for the closest colors to that value. I use it all the time for my work. As someone else mentioned though, this can only be used as a guideline. With light casting and shadows, it would be hard to find the exact match

Choosing Living Room Paint Colours

I have a large rectangular living room / music room which is two rooms in one. The living room is South West Facing and the Music room is North East facing. I am thinking of painting the walls White Tie by Farrow and Ball and the skirtings and door frame Matchstick. One problem is the window frame and sills are white UPVC. The ceilings are 8ft high so have opted for a pure, brilliant white ceiling. The dado rail is going and all the furnishings will be neutral with black piano and fireplace. Skimming Stone is pretty light so anything lighter than that is reducing lots of options. Wimborne White looks good in light drenched rooms, it needs light to come to life. I would look at the light levels in the rooms first and go from there. I think dark earthy deep greens work really well with Skimming Stone, but not pale greens. Little Greene Slaked Lime colours are lovely, Deep tan colours and ochres as Minne says... lots of options, especially in different rooms.

All the walls in my house are Skimming Stone and I’ve teamed it with browns, greens and pinks etc in the living room. There are alot of colours it works with in my opinion, though I tried it with a creamy colour in a room upstairs and it didn’t look good…
