Help with Mink sofa!
Hi all, just need help with painting a room… we got a sofa that was intended for a different room but we decided to change our minds last minute. It’s now in another room but really struggling to find a colour that would work well with it. It’s a like a gray mink colour with ivory piping. I was thinking drop cloth F&B but it’s a not really us. Any ideas would be great. Sorry about the messy photos but it’s been a bit of a dumping ground for stuff whilst other rooms getting done!

last monthMy suggestion is to turn the lights off, remove one of the seat cushions and photograph it in the light. The top photo is looks red grey and the next one yellow grey. Nether Red is a beautiful new colour from Little Greene, a muted brown red that could look good with your floor. Certainly if your sofa contains red as mink suggests, it may work.

last monthHi thanks so much for this. Ironically… the room used to be red. I’ve got to be honest, I’m not a fan of red or brown colours. I might give it a go though. It’s definitely a gray tone Mink. This photo of the cushion is probably more accurate.

Comments (9)At the moment all your stuff is concentrated at one side of he room making it cluttered and bare at the same time. Pictures need to go at eye height, so maybe get a simple shelf built above the sofa at eye height for some knick knacks. Somehow your pictures seem very high up on the wall. You could cluster them together above the sofa maybe? You can still have your mantel but with maybe a better-selected range of bits on it. Agree that some shelving might be good in the alcoves but not above the line of the top of those pictures. I would have gone for a much darker colour for the walls (like navy blue) because the sofa would have blended in a bit more and it would look luxurious against the dark background. Plus dark colours give your stuff an instant quality upgrade. Comments (2)It feels bland because floors and walls are beige. (ish). If you want to make a statement about a room. contrasting shades work really well. You have spotlights so the south aspect is irrelevant. Put a dimmer on spots if not already there so you control the light and feel of a room. I presume the fire is staying there so that back wall would be perfect for TV to be put on/entertainment system. Corner couch facing tv wall with chaise lounge on fire side. last monthI really like the room as it is to be honest! You can add navy plain and patterned cushions to tie in with the wall colour. However if you want a change I think a dusky pink may go?
