Bedroom refurb finished

After 3 months in the guest room, we'll be back in our room tonight. 😃 It's been a lot of work, and hubby still has furniture to make. He's designed it all, just needs to but the timber, and make it. We've installed soundproofing, replaced some floorboards and laid new laminate, installed ceiling tray lighting and new bedside lighting, new skirting boards and architrave, a new door, hung the opposite side to before, lots of lime plastering was needed. We had French style curtain poles made, so no need for a centre bracket. This all started when we had the windows replaced last autumn. As well as furniture we also need some artwork so will be keeping an eye out for something we like. We've done everything ourselves. It's been hard work, but worth it. Good thing I retired last year though! Angie

Did I mention, we'll be changing the doors, skirtings, and architrave in the rest of the house? ὠ1 8 more doors to go. We don't anticipate as many complexities we had in the bedroom however. Only changing flooring in one other (small) room and the rest should mostly be standard redecoration. Famous last words. ὠ2

I got one of those men who cares about EVERYTHING!! LOL Sometimes I wish he was like "most"....I'd have more butterflies myself. ;) We got a Rottie girl....we've rescued Great Danes for over 15 years but they just do not live very long....it's too hard....so we switched breeds. I am so tired.... Ok back to this room.....I'd like to know what you like poster....traditional....contemporary....want a theme like travel? Floral? Butterflies ;)??

Hi Mel, It's a bit hard to see the exact shade of your wall paper but I think Brushed Platinum (below) could work well with your colour scheme. Our roller blinds offer the unique function that means you can swap the fabrics easily by simply hooking off the old fabric and hooking on the new one. So you could choose a few different fabric options in different patterns and transparency and change them with your decor or the season. Are the walls elephants breath and the blind taupe? If so, I would add a taupe bed throw. Kelly hoppen has a few good ones on her website but I can't save the images. A velvet bolster cushion would also look great on the bed. I would add either a bed end stool or chaise sofa at the end of the bed. I've attached a link to one on ebay as it seemed very reasonable and you can change the leg colour. I'd go for plain grey silk curtains, next have some silvery grey one in their ready made range which seem reasonable ( apologies as you've painted but I'd hang the curtain rail higher as it will make the room taller). I'd add matching bedside lamps. A roundish decorative silver mirror over the middle of the headboard would look great. I'd also move the chest to the tv ŵall. I personally would just add art to the right hand ŵall if you're laying in bed, maybe some of the black and white Getty images from John lewis? I'd go for the more girlie ones. They're not particularly cheap but you can always buy the prints and have framed separately. Would love to see the room completely finished as it looks great already

I had wardrobes in wood finish They looked so dark So I could not cope with BLACK.! I would sand and paint the wardrobe white and the walls. The bed you could make pull down covers for top and end . (Make them like an open bag so you can wash them .But a devan bed would give open space look).. materal of the same colour as the curtains. Padding them or just covering. Make the spread the same colour. For day time. That should lift the darkness from the room. You can have a blackout blind for night if you want to keep the colours light. My room looked a treet much brighter. and I sleep better now. .OliveH

Thanks. Lots of finishing touches to be done. I'm going to teach myself quilting then make a quilt to fit the colourscheme.
