What to do with the former wardrobes in both bedrooms

Hi Everyone,

As discussed earlier, I have refused the builder's offer to take down the chimney up to the first floor and the wall between the two bedrooms. As Jonathan advised, will ask him to plaster over the cracks or EML them.

What do I do with these former wardrobes or the space that is left, which is 2 meters in length and about 2 feet wide? Including the place which housed the boiler.

Any advise?

Prior to adding any trims to the door, use a small piece of trim, attach it to the door with double stick tape on the hinge side and check to see that the door opens. It might not! Attaching trim to the door is more than just cutting the trim, no? I can give you a more detailed set of instructions if you decide to go that route...but I'm for painting the wardrobe (and all the woodwork in the room) white.

No chest of drawers in bedroom - where to put personal grooming stuff?

We replaced our large chest of drawers with built in wardrobes which are very successful re storage and we no longer need nor have the space for our chest of drawers. So now we have the wardrobes, bed opposite and small two bedside tables. I am really missing the top of the chest of drawers as a surface for creams, hairbrushes, make up jewellery and random miscellany. We would have room on either side of the bed but also need bedside level surface there. Question - what does everyone else do who does not have this surface in the bedroom? Bathroom shelves are hardly big enough. Ideally I would have a skinny chest of drawers AND a bedside table on either side of bed but wouldn't that look really clunky?

Hiya We recently moved into our new apt. both bedrooms are north facing so I'm looking for ideas for colours. we have a black leather framed bed & I've picked out 2 bed side lockers which are wood with black drawers and 2 bedside lamps with a copper stand, our wardrobe is not the standard built in type...the wardrobe door is basically a normal room door if you know what I mean. Its pretty spacious and I'm conscious while filling space I don't want to clutter it. Our living area is painted Oxford white and my other half wants to use this in the bedroom...but I think it would he weird to paint the bedrooms the same colour as the living area. Would love to hear ideas as lacking inspiration right now!

Hi Therese, You could keep them as two seperate wardrobes and revamp to something more modern, alternatively you could get rid of the fire place and step out the two wardrobes and create one large wardrobe all flush and the chimney breast would work as a row of narrow shelves! Eventually you will need to buy wardrobes but I would wait to see what budget is remaining.

And the previous boiler cupboard will make a super linen cupboard. Personally I would put a couple of sockets in there for a background heater and a cordless vacuum, have some slatted shelving for bed linen, and floor space for your suitcases

You have a lot going on in the house 😊 . They are bedrooms so will definitely need wardrobes in both. Lots of choice out there.

If you leave it until the end as Jonathan suggets and then you find that your budget is very small, just get a chippy to make them out of MDF and paint them yourself.
