Help, need ideas for patio shade please

last year

I have a very sunny but quite windy patio and and even my heavy parasol can blow over. I really need some cover but am puzzled what to do. The patio leads on from my sun lounge so I dont want a heavy structure which may block light. Its a bungalow so very little height between top of patio doors and the fascia and guttering.

You need to erect some kind of windbreak whether it’s glass or some artificial plant sheeting. See link below to understand what I mean …

An awning may do the job if there is room above the bifold doors. A good quality awning of a good size, rather like you get outside restaurants, is what I mean with a remote control for opening and closing. I bought a budget one and it just doesn’t do the job - it has a hand crank to wind it open or closed (hard work!) and too small to create enough shade. This sort of thing

hello bonnielynn75 and THANK YOU! your comment put a smile on my face re the red on the interior side of the door. It IS red on the inside as well, he insisted on that when we purchased it. no one here has it red on the inside and I wanted it to be white on the inside. do you see my dilemma?;) I agree with everything you are saying, I suppose this is the reason why so far I was not 100% sure about the black for the door either, although I like black...Agree, there is too much wall and I find the house to be looking a bit 'bland' and would like to change that. I LOVE shutters, but read somewhere that you never put shutters on wide windows, so got unsure about that, too...but perhaps just the one as I stated earlier. Would the color on that shutter be the same as the door (if I ever settle on a door color)? Unfortunately window boxes are not an option as we have quite a few cats and they may be used as litter boxes;) please don't tell me to get rid of the cats;)... Regarding the stoop (entrance) : we need to add another step (made of cement) on top of the existing step: it was removed when the new door was fitted. We were thinking of putting slate tiles or something dark to match the roof, if that makes any sense.... It is porous cement so unsuitable for painting, I think. What place in Ireland did you visit, we are close to the Irish Sea in the country surrounded by sheep;)...

I believe the cabinets are a dark charcoal, sometimes also known as off black... The valences can be even more super simple to make yourself if you buy two table runners with a similar design and sew three ends together :) then sew rod pocket and install the rod on the back of the overhang :) If you can't find table runners, it's such simple sewing that definitely can be done by a beginner.

Hello Shassad85, As Far as the description of the house interior. I can suggest checking out at Benjamin Moore Brand paint color: Soft Sand 2106-60 That's the paint color number. Other one You can check out is Portland Gray 2109-60, Hope this Helps

Thanks Sonia, interesting to hear your experience. I was hoping for something budget too but obviously may have to pay more I think.

Has anyone tried with upright posts and wires along the ”roof” and the used fabric ?
