Bowing glass in sliding doors

I’ve had large sliding doors fitted by the builder doing my extension. In high winds we were alarmed at how much one of the windows started to flex and bow (very alarming). when you press on the glass the whole pane bends as of its will break. The builder wont return any calls and the glass supplier says its 4mm and within spec by milimetres given the size of the door. It looks like theres no argon in the unit but he says the builder has to sort ot out. I’m lookimg for a governing body that can help resolve the issue…anyone help?

What are the size of the doors? Can you post a photo. When we supply we always ask for Argon filled. Can you ask to see a specification of the door supplied?

I feel in a situation like this, I would not add windows with no view that would probably end up with some type of coverings a great deal of the time. My situation would be use of mirrors to reflect available light back into room. Mirror could be styled to look like Windows etc. we have a similar situation in our kitchen, and we mirrored over the sink, and created two faux windows using mirror and drapery side pannels. The effect works great, and when you add the right lighting the effect is wonderful, day and night. Take a good look and visualize day and night views creating with mirrors designed into a "today" style and look.

Hello Jen, I am so surprised that no one has mentioned vertical blinds to you? They are very much back in fashion and work beautifully in a room such as yours. They come in 3.5" veins, which mean they will fold back and tuck into each recess when fully open. They turn to let as much light in as you need and then close when you want full privacy. They will be fitted in the recess above the windows. You can either have one complete rail length or two so you have a separate section over the door. You can have what's know as a middle split, i.e: half goes left and right. Personally I would suggest one length that opens to the left, therefore leaving your door completely uncovered when open. The pulley system is very much like a roller blind and are safety fixed to the wall so children can not get caught in them. They come in a huge rang of colours and materials and better still they are very affordable. I am working with a number of new developments in Hertfordshire at the moment and these are what the clients are all asking for. Hi. I think the overall look is good. Large tiles do make a room feel bigger as the pattern is less busy however I've seen the hex tiles in small bathrooms and they seem to work as your inspiration pic shows. I would probably lose the flowers though if I'm honest. Do you want the window for light or ventilation? Could a decent extractor be sufficient? I'm thinking that back ŵall could look quite busy. Is there any opportunity to change the layout? Moving soil pipes can be a little costly but could the sink be moved although ideally the loo would be hidden round the corner. You can pick up some great looking vintage or vintage style taps on ebay although unsure if the quality of the repro ones, If the layout can't be changed maybe have a corner loo and ŵall hung trough sink and put some storage in on the rhs as you come through the door depending on how you plan for the shower to open

You can put a test on it to tell the thermal values which will prove whether or not Argon is in it. It will also tell whether or not it is K glass. You cannot tell simply by looking at it whether or not it is Argon filled. Glass does bend though.

You need an independent glass surveyor.

For comparison, each panel on our sliding door is 2350H x 1325W. Because of the size the glass is 6mm.
