We have this south facing garden and a planter on the lower tier that is currently empty. It used to have loads of plants in it that few outwards not upwards and encroached too much on the seating space. We love palms and ferns but this area does get shade in the afternoon. Any ideas really welcome! We are not very green-fingered and struggling for direction!
I would suggest Euonymus fortunei . It’s evergreen , can be trimmed back to form a ‘ wall ‘ of leaves and comes in various variegated shades . It’s a moderate grower so won’t take over .
