Walls and ceiling all one colour?

We have knocked through a wall to create an open plan kitchen/lounge/diner.
It's an L-shaped room and is a bright space with lots of natural light all day. We have 2 sets of French doors at the back of the space overlooking the garden.
The kitchen is pale grey and the floor throughout is oak.
The lounge has always been white, mainly as it's easy to touch up and there's zero cutting in at ceiling height! But, it can look quite stark at certain times of the day.
I'm thinking of doing it all a very pale grey including the ceiling but adding a green/grey or even a gold colour for the end wall that opens onto the garden.
Would painting the ceiling the same palest of greys work?
I'm dreading having to cut in and attempt to get a clean straight line between walls and ceiling otherwise!

I know, cutting in is a nightmare. I’ve even used frog tape which worked until I removed the tape and took some of the ceiling paint with it! I think all one colour will work well if you use a pale grey like Dulux Polished Pebble or F&B Ammonite. In the picture below the person used F&B Cabbage White on walls and ceiling.

I'm going to get a tester of dulux pepple & Ammonite by F&B. Do you think F&B are worth their very hefty price tag?

Thanks everyone. AMN - The lighting in the photo isn't great - the walls and venetian blinds are both white and the green is a wallpaper. I've a TV on one side and radiator on the other side of the wall but I do like the idea of painting it a different colour. What do you mean by "because the sectional is too big for the space already" thanks! Dar Eckert - like your suggestion of introducing another colour, I was thinking about aubergine but again it could be over modern and not the slightly warm vibe I'm looking for - what do you think? Carolyn - thanks for posting the rug, going to look it up and see about shipping costs etc to Ireland from that site. Really happy with the rooms but we've just had a baby and I want a bit more of a cosier feel with her around whilst still keeping with my modern twist!! Long post, sorry!!!

I'm starting to really like the Blue+orange combo.Not one i would instantly have thought of, but I've seen a few pics online after reading your suggestion and i find it really cheerful and soothing at the same time. Thanks for the advice!

I'd hold off painting your table. Do all your painting first. I'm suggesting this because I think it helps to balance the room out to have some of that wood tone on the other side. A compromise would be to leave the top alone and paint everything else. Also. Get rid on any red accents, de-clutter the counter (so you can see your new backsplash and also get some pretty dishes in the blue/green color and put them in the cabinet with the glass doors. Also get new dish towels to hang on oven door handle. Please post some pics when you get done-excited!

No to the price of F&B. Especially when you can get the same colour matched by various good paint ranges.
I’ve also painted walls and ceilings the same colour and it works well.

I love F&B colours but all the other paint companies are copying them now so I don’t think they are worth the money and companies like Johnson’s do good colour matches.

I did my hallway with cheaper Wickes paint and it beat Dulux hands down!
