Just purchased a house that needs a lot of work! Idea is to knock through kitchen/ dining room and build a small extension to make a 5.43mX 6.15m kitchen/ dining/ snug space. My question is will I get it all in?! Thank you in advance.
No it’s not big enough it’s actually quite tight to fit in an island and dining table lengthways and so that’s only possible if you push the dining table against the wall (perhaps with bench seating) and you won’t have room for stools at the island.
You either have to abandon the idea of a snug area, or just have a pointless sofa at the edge of the room, or build bigger, or turn the utility room into another reception room.
If you use the utility as a separate reception room you might find the cost of opening it up to the kitchen/dining prohibitively high because you would have to remove the corner of the original house.
Our kitchen is a similar size to what you are looking at (maybe a little narrower) and I don’t think it could have been arranged to fit a sofa and tv unless we didn’t have an island in the layout.
