Plain front of house
We have a 1980's bungalow with fantastic views. The front of the house though is very plain. I have had the paths around the house paved which has made some improvement but the house still looks ver flat. I was wondering whether some sort of wood cladding around the door slightly projecting off the wall may give it some depth and character. The back of the house is fine it's just the front that's very flat and plain. Any ideas welcome but on a budget. Thank you.

So looking at hedging or other ideas for the side fences then shrubs / plants / flowers for the main parts. I'd be interested innyour ideas. On the other side if the fence, if you mean the road side, the footpath is right up against the fence. Shutters are fantastic for creating a clean, uncluttered feel, while, as Colourhappy says, a Roman blind is a great way to add a luxurious feel. Both create a classic look that will never go out of style. Alternatively, as you say, curtains are a gorgeous choice. Floor length curtains would create a real sumptuous look, but you may want to consider how this might block your radiator, especially if you intend to open and close them regularly. last yearAt first I thought a porch as they can really improve the frontage of a plain house but I noticed the roof is quite low. I then spotted these porches which would work with rendering, cladding and a low roof?
