dark green wall, how about window sill?
Hi everyone! I was wondering if you could help…we are painting our guest room dark green. Originally we were planning on painting all four walls including the window sill, but do you think we should leave the window sill (yellow rectangle mark up in pic) white and the rest green? Or go ahead and paint the rectangle space dark green?
I feel like the first option will stop the room from feeling like a cave but keen to hear your thoughts!! :) ps we’re keeping our ceiling white + room gets lots of sun but since it’s a guest room we thought we could go abit bold in the colour!

2 years agoI think some white will go really well, such as the woodwork and bedding. So go white with the window.

Comments (9)Thank you for your suggestions and ideas! I love some of the more daring/colourful ideas, but I don't think I'm, personally, bold enough to go with such a contemporary look. I'm going to stick to a traditional/modern style and use large (4" x 8") white subway tiles and dark grey grout. I'm thinking of using a dark grey paint around the kitchen walls and then a lighter shade around the rest of the room, with maybe the dark grey on the wall behind the TV too. Comments (15)I think it might work better to have blinds on the wall with the smaller windows (perhaps in a plain colour) and have curtains on the main stretch of windows, using the existing curtains to replace the small roman blinds. This would allow the fantastic view to be the main focus. I do think plain curtains would work well here but you perhaps aren't keen to change them as they are new? Could they be used elsewhere? I also agree re moving the sofas so they aren't at angles, it looks a bit strange. Maybe try them in a u shape around the fire. Last q…would you paint the area above the door frame (yellow bit below) green or keep it white? I’m in two minds because we’re keeping the ceiling white so not sure if that means we should keep area above door white too…

2 years agoI painted our downstairs cloakroom Dulux Olive Grove (except for a wall-papered feature wall), and did the window sill and the window reveal in white.
