For the time being (and this IS only a temporary fix) try using a water based penetrating sealer on the grout. I stress water based, because solvent based sealers today are made to be "breatheable", meaning they allow moisture to transmit back and forth, while the water based sealers will repel water. You still need to address this in a more permanent manner (the glass door is a good idea, but it wouldn't hurt to remove the bathroom floor tile, waterproof the floor, and install a new tile floor), but this will help until you can afford to do what you need to do.

I really like the clean lines of your kitchen , it's beautiful and I would not add to much colour but you could use some accessories with green and white that would compliment this minimalistic kitchen. For example adding a bright green plant/s or an accessory the same colour as the clock on your top wall can put everything in a nice perspective!

Hi @mjdpower, My suggestion is to go to a couple of floor specialist and ask as they may come up with something different. Whatever you do keep in consideration the size of the room and think on a long term: a poor quality finish could effect your property price in a space as important as the kitchen. I will try something that allow you to go back to your original tiles floor if things do not work out the way you want them to go. A cheap way is to cover the tiles with vinyl and here is how to do it: http://www.doityourself.com/stry/how-to-install-vinyl-flooring-over-ceramic-tiling#b the adhesive should not stain or damage the tiles (ask the manufacture before doing it anyway!) and you have a large choice of design and colours. Paint tiles could be another option, not my favourite but an option. I found this blog where Curry Kay describe step by step how she's did it. Hello Houzz Ireland, We are currently renovating a 1960's build - so as you know, there is a lot of decisions to be made!! So it would be nice to get some gems of advice from the experts to help us through this daunting task. Areas where we would really like some inspiration for - small bathroom downstairs. I would really like to do something fun with this room and although small, I think it could work really well with some funky wallpaper or possibly tiles?! I'm just not sure what to do with it. Also - pulling a whole house together?! Where do we start? We have the bigger pieces of furniture but how do I know what nest of tables goes best with a suite? Or what accessories will bring a room together? I'm due a second baby in 2 weeks time so any help at this stage would be so amazing - to guide me on the right interior design path for our new house.
