New doors or carpet first?

I’m getting mixed answers on Google but what’s the best order of laying carpet and fitting new doors? My current plan is

Fit doors
Decorate
Carpet

Reasoning for this order is: as part of the decorating the frames and doors will be painted (skirting is unpainted). Leaving carpet until last so less chance of damage from paint / tradesmen etc .

Just wanted to check that’s correct?

If fitting doors before laying carpets, just remember to allow enough of a gap below the door for underlay and carpet.

I would fit the carpet first, then the carpenter can fit the doors at the correct height.

fragle0 ... congratulations on the new addition to your family. Have been following your lovely changes. You probably won't have time to work on the decor for a while. Just wanted to suggest that you try pulling the nesting tables forward to be more in line with front of the chairs & placing your floor lamp to the back of them. This will give a bit more light at night for reading in that area.Also switching the plant by the fireplace & the one on the corner by the sofa.

Hi if you want dark colours through out your home you can use the dark colour on wood work example flooring if you go for dark oak do the doors and frame and skirting to a lighter tone of the floor or if would like to break the continuous of the colour of the door frame you can stain the skirting boards white or a neutral colour but white does bring the skirting board stand out

Please, please, please, don't paint any of the wood. You have a beautiful setting for mid century modern décor. I can agree with removing the carpet from the stairs, however I would just want to add a jute floor covering for the stairs after. The light fixtures should probably both be changed. You even have a lovely roomy space in your foyer. I always recommend starting with the foundation of the room, which is the floor covering. Kilim, ikat, Persian or Oriental would be my choice. I would think minimalist would be very fitting in this space.

Sorry, I'm confused. You have a landing that is attached, some how, to laminate flooring somewhere. Stairs will be carpeted...but not sure how stairs tie in to the laminate. Totally lost. You have stairs that will have carpet. They are attached to the landing...that is some how attached to flooring with laminate. There might be stairs involved, there might not be. At this point, without photos or blue prints or a full, clear statement describing the whole thing, we won't be able to help. What is the flooring 'upstairs'? Putting carpet on stairs, willy-nilly, with NO connection to "other areas of carpet" is quite odd. Many people who use carpet will often "carpet the stairs" and then carpet all of the area "upstairs" to match the stairs. This is why they put carpet on the stairs in the first place...it matches the "upstairs". Using carpets on stairs, then on a landing use laminate, and then continue carpet on stairs once again is very, very odd. Ending the carpet without continuing with it (ie. upstairs is another flooring type entirely) is another "odd thing to do". In essence, we will need more precise description of what is going on here.

Fit the carpet last but expect to have a chippy back to trim the doors

Fit the carpet first and then the carpenter will get the correct height to hang the doors. Once he has fitted them it will be a struggle to get him to return due to them all being in demand. Cover the doors if you intend to use a roller to paint as they flick emulsion everywhere.

Ask your carpet installer if part of their service is to trim existing ( ie your new) doors - some do this - it’s not an unusual request . If they don’t -hang doors last…. you can decorate the architraves and skirting before laying carpet, without the doors on.

Fit the carpet first and get a few drop sheets to protect the newly laid carpet when painting. Cheaper than calling back a chippy.
