Design Dilemma Kids' Rooms Kitchens

downstairs layout help

We are purchasing this house.
I know we would like to add a downstairs toilet and also have a decent utility room and an area as a kids playroom. weve had several different ideas in our heads - what do people suggest looking at this floor plan?
not sure if it makes a difference but there is currently as step down to dining room attached to kitchen. thanks in advance!

Initial thoughts - create a new door into the living room and then block off wall to left hand dining room.

Remove wall between left hand dining room and kitchen.

Create a new door into kitchen/dining level with bottom of stairs .

Utilise under stairs for downstairs WC and/or utility - depends on space.

Maybe put utility in garage.

Use right hand dining room as playroom.

Similar to thistlejak…I wonder if you might reinstate the wall of the sitting room (and create a new doorway for the sitting room)

Swap the larger dining room and kitchen over (ie kitchen on the left looking to the garden) and use the smaller dining room on the lower level for the kids area and have a utility and wc off of that, possibly using some of the garage?

I like the idea with the pink highlighted edge. This opens u the kitchen dining space but keeps the lounge and study separate as you wanted. I would add bifold doors if possible along the back wall of the dining room to make it feel even bigger. Hope this helps

You could do a black paint trim over the wooden bits. It would go with the work tops. But not so much with the creamy doors; Or get all of the kitchen units spray painted white? I think if you try to match the floor with the wood of the units in the kitchen you may leave yourself open to a mismatch or even just an overload of wood. I didn't feel there was enough black there as the island top kind of took me by surprise on first seeing it. But could you remove that granite altogether and see how it looks then? Maybe it's the black that's the problem not the wood at all

I personally think an en-suite would be more practical and will add value than a dedicated office. Could you fit the washing machine under the stairs. You have ample room in the kitchen to have an office area by the small window.
