Bathroom spotlights placement

Hi,

Renovating bathroom and not sure how many spotlights we need and where exactly they should be placed. We’re thinking of putting 3 spotlights on the flat part of the ceiling - would this suffice or should we have a couple on the sloped part of ceiling? Do think we would need one above the shower or would adjacent to shower be better? Thanks 🙂

I like options so would put more in and have a dimmer switch. I would def have one above shower otherwise could feel dim and enclosed.
Don’t know what you’re doing about extractor but our above shower light also has the extractor in which works well
Not light related, but I think you should put a much bigger shower in - you have a lot of wasted space around the sink and a bigger shower will feel more luxurious and better match your nice bath.

Hi KD,

We’ll have a dimmer switch for the spotlights and agree one above the shower would be good idea. We were advised not to put extractor fan directly above shower as it can suck the air out making the shower feel cold but yours must be okay? The actual shower has a curved glass door and is much larger than the picture depicts so should be fine.

I would go with what the architect suggested. That was my immediate thought and also means that you will get light into your living area all day since the kitchen would be at the front and the living room at the back. It will be a nicer space to live in. If you really can't face bedrooms at the front though could you do something like this? It clearly isn't to scale!! You probably sacrifice a bit of space in that smallest bedroom but gain much more liveable floor space at the front of the house. It also gives your husband the open pan area he likes. It does sacrifice a separate entrance way though. I'd also shift the bathroom wall out and steal some space from the utility room so that you have a larger bathroom.

Love the colour and style of cabinets. The worktops are beautiful. The flooring is a bit wishy washy and I would prefer a chimney hood style extractor fan - even though this one is the same colour as the kitchen, to me it sticks out like a sore thumb. Personally, I like the 'working triangle' to be at the centre of the kitchen and the fridge freezer looks like an after thought, stuck on at the end, in this design.

It looks very good James. Even though as you say it was a clients design build, it works fine. Once the Island has stools it will fill it out better. Has that naked look at the moment. The position of the wine rack might cause issues but overall it looks like a really clean and fresh kitchen. Plenty of natural light and the colours compliment each other. The extractor is a nice feature too. Everyone has different opinions as I see on here but if the client is happy with it then job done. Looks really well fitted too.....well done :)

Hello Houzz Ireland, We are currently renovating a 1960's build - so as you know, there is a lot of decisions to be made!! So it would be nice to get some gems of advice from the experts to help us through this daunting task. Areas where we would really like some inspiration for - small bathroom downstairs. I would really like to do something fun with this room and although small, I think it could work really well with some funky wallpaper or possibly tiles?! I'm just not sure what to do with it. Also - pulling a whole house together?! Where do we start? We have the bigger pieces of furniture but how do I know what nest of tables goes best with a suite? Or what accessories will bring a room together? I'm due a second baby in 2 weeks time so any help at this stage would be so amazing - to guide me on the right interior design path for our new house. I would suggest having a couple of Pin spotlights in the ceiling also. They are small (35mm). They would come on via a motion sensor in the bathroom. Brilliant for some subtle lighting during the night when you only need the light to be on for a few minutes. No need to put the light on. I wouldn't be without them.
