Decorating advice please.

Would like a colour scheme/ decorating advice for a playroom. My kids play room is a really large room and I don't know what colours to go for. It has very high ceilings and then a dado rail about 1/4 of the way up around the room apart from on the back wall which is completely bare and I think this should be painted as a feature wall? Any suggestions for how to paint with a dado rail and what colours to go for? Want it to look bright and roomy and not cheap.
