Comments (2)You could go with either, but you should buy a dense, heavy face weight carpet. Consider something with low pile, or multiple pile heights that will help hide traffic paths. If you have reason to anticipate a lot of stains, then you might want to lean toward nylon. I personally love wool, but it would need to be heavy and dense for stairs....See MoreDressing hallway sideboard advice
Comments (6)Nice art but a bit too large for this spot. See how the frame is above your door frame. If it were mine, since the door appears to open into the next room, I'd consider modifying the sideboard to be used as a rad cover and lower the art so its center is 5' above the floor. It can stand on its own, and you can paint the frame the same color as the sideboard to unify them and the space. You might also add an art light that attaches to the piece for more evening interest....See MoreBedroom colour scheme advice
Comments (9)Hi Louise, In a room like this I always like to keep the walls and ceilings ( including the small door and frame 1 colour...in this case a lavender. I'd start by finding colour chips that have the same colour as the carpet, and then go a few shades lighter but in the same tome. All baseboards and door to hall should be the same colour as the iron beds...off white. With the walls a colour you'll be able to see the pretty pattern of the frame. OR find a small scaled pattern of any of the shades of purple and the cream same as the bed frame) with the same fabric. Make custom bedding to match. In a small room 1 pattern works well everywhere. If you go the paint route, try to find fabric with soft gold, lavender, purple for a skirted table between the beds if there's room. You can put it on a cardboard table and base...found in some fabric or craft stores. Top it with a thin piece of glass ( Pier 1) and away you go.Don't be afraid of colour or small pattern in a small space, as you are going for the impact. Have fun! Comments (1)I guess it depends if you need to live in it straight away or if you have a bit of time beforehand. I think I would personally need to have bedrooms painted and carpeted and a bathroom useable. If your kitchen units are been ripped out could you do this before moving in? If it's as bad as you say I would be inclined to rip all carpets out and get it fresh-not ideal painting around new carpets but you could do that gradually-i could put up with dirty paint but not dirty carpet...just my thoughts. If it's just cosmetic I can't imagine it being too much of a disturbance....See MoreSonia
