My son and daughter in law have an Edwardian style conservatory. It suffers from the usual problems ; too hot in summer and too cold in winter. They would like a solid roof but would like some recommendations. They live in south Bucks nearBeaconsfield.
We viewed a property a few years back which had a large conservatory and a solid ceiling had been added, presumably to address the issues you mention. It was a lovely space but it made the other rooms in the house very dark indeed. Worth considering the lighting before committing to a solid roof. Angie
A solid roof will indeed make it dark. My sister in law has a radiator added in hers. In mine I have the roof over the sofa area with a purpose made cover underneath so we have no glare and makes it comfortable during the summer months.
