what colour walls go with a blue sofa?

We have a muted blue sofa in our living room and a light grey carpet. The walls are currently a pale light grey. It’s all a bit bland and I’d like to paint the walls a different colour. It’s quite a dark room, not a lot of natural light. Was originally thinking of blue walls but not sure that would work with the sofa. Would really appreciate suggestions!

How light is the carpet? If it is very pale you could match the blue of the sofa and take the walls a shade darker than the sofa.

I think your colors are restful so I would work with those and not pop a color. Maybe some interesting artwork that had some color in it, but I think you should go for a more elegant calm look. By the way, I like the chandelier you have with the fireplace. I think I would paint the lower part of your wall the same blue as is in the top part. Then I would add some black accents in glass and lamps. Curtains that have a sheen or gold thread would be nice.

Benjamin Moore paint Peau-de-Soie it has a pinky tone which is light and neutral. Use artwork and accessories to tie in with the sofa colour to keep a light spacious feel.

Anything in pale neutrals such as taupe (so many variations of this!) will go.

Oval Room Blue? I have a blue armchair and that colour on the wall, but despite the name it is more green. It’s bold but not too dark.
