Turning space into wardrobe

House was build in year 1920 and this is where is the access to the loft. We have installed ladder elsewhere so this is going to be great place to turn into wardrobe/space for clothes. It is a bedroom. I do not like the fact these doors are standard sized because room is small already and optically it is not nice to look at. I thought maybe changing that to narrow doors? I am wanting a modern look. Do you have any ideas?

You do need to add photos. To do this:

Under the box you are typing in are some letters and icons. You will already have the photos so click on the camera icon which is the 5th from the left. It will then let you access your photos. Select photo library. Click on the photo you want to use and select Use which is in the top right hand corner. Wait for the image to change shade and then press submit.

You can add photos in the comments, so type your comment then click on the icon below, it will take you to your photos and you can select photo/s from your library or you can click on camera icon, take a photo and upload.

I really only need the sliding doors I think as I have the body of the wardrobe well worked out I have ended up with needing 6ft by 6ft sliding doors and a few accessories for inside as I already had the poles and my husband is a chippy so he helped me with the body of it. Can you still help me, I hope so.

I had wardrobes in wood finish They looked so dark So I could not cope with BLACK.! I would sand and paint the wardrobe white and the walls. The bed you could make pull down covers for top and end . (Make them like an open bag so you can wash them .But a devan bed would give open space look).. materal of the same colour as the curtains. Padding them or just covering. Make the spread the same colour. For day time. That should lift the darkness from the room. You can have a blackout blind for night if you want to keep the colours light. My room looked a treet much brighter. and I sleep better now. .OliveH

That looks like it's going to be a jolly useful cupboard. The only thing with narrow double doors on there is that when you open up to look inside, I think you'll find the door on the left will block out light and be awkward sticking 90degrees into the room. You could put that door on a 180degree hinge or have you considered a concertina door or sliding door ?

Aside from some paintwork the door looks fine, but I do wonder how you're going to put a trim around that, without having to cut into the current door. I wanted to start with: If you rather have a smooth door, you could nail/glue a 5mm ply on it. But, trim, so you might want to get some new thin framework fitted with a new board door or barn door in front. Would not put in double doors.
