How to add natural light to a room with no window

Hello there, I had a GF extension built in 2015. I lost my dining room window to have a wet room, but made an opening in my living room wall to allow light into my old dining room. However it’s still very dark. I’m trying to find if its possible to add a sun tunnal against the remaining wall space (house is north facing) to pull some light into the dining room. Has anyone experienced this dilemma? Sadly my builder andd Architech have not responded to my query, and neither have builders. I’m sure there is a way. Any help or suggestions would be gratefully received

I'm sure it could be done, but more comprehensive photos and a floor plan please would let us see exactly what options might work.

I agree with Kingfisher - not enough info to go off. But I'm wondering why the door between the living and dining room, anyway? And do you have to walk through the living room to get to the dining room? Can you make a new, glass door (light-giving) from the dining to the kitchen, say?

Have you thought of combining treatments? We do a lot of Hunter Douglas shades for privacy and light control coupled with stationary panels to give softness and luxury to the treatment. Combining textures such as woven woods provides interest both inside and out. Thank you for your comment, The fireplace looks so bare, originally there was a huge surround and I couldn't believe the size of the actual grate when it was all removed. I had wondered if I should have had the piece of granite hearth extended to the wall and built a narrow bookcase by the chair. I will definitely get a mantel. No tv yet, don't know where to put it,? There is a tv point in the corner to the left hand side of the couch, just under the window. Thanks again,

Since you want a traditional look, that light in the dining room just will not do. How tall is the room? If it's sufficiently tall (it looks that way), you could look into a chandelier to replace the pendant in there now! Is that the old dinning room window? If so and if the dinning room is still directly on the other side it should be possible to add a light tunnel coming out and up onto the sloped roof.

Adding artwork with overflights into the room would give you ambient lighting that can be on 24/7 … it’s not natural lighting - but it will help !
