I'm currently renovating my house and am pondering the layout of my lounge. We have introduced an open plan layout to the ground floor and are currently considering 3 different layouts (but are open to suggestions!). There are pro's and con's of each - I am curious as to how others would use the space or if there are suggestions I have not yet considered.
What is your favourite layout? Do you have any comments or suggestions or tips for making best use of the space?
Option 3 for me, not keen on the tv between the door and window in option 1 unless your budget stretched to an art tv, if it fits.
would your tall kitchen units fit to the side of the kitchen door (or move the door down a bit or lose it alrogether) and have the breakfat bar at the end of the long run? Just not sure the bar will be used facing a wall?
Hi Minnie, thanks for your comment! I think Op 3 is currently my favourite too.
It's actually quite a narrow kitchen (2.5m wide) which is why we have settled on this design. In an ideal world we would have had a breakfast bar as you suggest but it would have blocked viewing lines through the kitchen. It's essentially a perch - we think we will use the main table most as its close and the space is open.
Hi Dan. Definitely option 3 for me. It's got the best flow and doesn't involve any compromises. The TV was an issue for me in option 1 and I didn't like the blocked door in option 3. It looks like it will be a great space.
What software are you using? It might be just the thing I need to help me with my own design dilemma.
@Hilary Scott Hi Hilary. Thank you for your thoughts - Option 3 definitely has the least compromises!
It's an application called Neo Foyr - quite fiddly but a great application. There is a free trial (although I haven't been stopped from using the expiry date...)
