I wouldn’t say it’s the chair itself that doesn’t work but it’s placement & surroundings. It doesn’t look good there as it looks like it’s just been dumped there (along with the ff) because it doesn’t fit in with the other items. Does the ff have to stay there? It doesn’t look at all convenient for accessing it. I would try to pull the table & chairs out into the room a bit more and see if there is space for the chair plus another one & a small coffee table in the window space. A small rug to zone the area as more relaxed & ‘separate’ to the kitchen would help. Also some artwork pulling in colours from the chair & kitchen would be good.

I would suggest white cabinets with a dark grey Caesarstone counter. The splashback will be the variable with lots of options. This scheme is a lighter and more neutral alternative to the masculine dark grey. Both are great! Good luck, Mary

Thanks. Beautiul space. Can you please take a photo of the wall that is across from the island? -there is no overhang on the counter...so I am not seeing stools there on either the long portion of the island or the shorter portion by the window. -if you mean by the window, there is a door on one side and an oven on the other.....hence it is a traffic way,,,,,,you don't want stools there I am not sure why you feel the need to put something there. You might consider art on the wall across from the island to ground that wall. Need a photo.

Ii agree with tamp - is that the Fridge freezer in that corner? It’s a very awkward space for access with the other furniture, and it doesn’t look as finished as the rest of the kitchen. You’ve got a spacious kitchen but a very cramped corner. Maybe try turning the table and chairs 90 degrees to see if that helps?

The white box is the where the boiler is! Its just a standard cupboard to hide all the plumbing! Cant move it unfortunately :( But i do think it looks odd white so thinking to paint it navy or grey? Agree it would much easier if it wasnt there! Will try different placements, thanks for the tips! Also need some more colour i think and a rug will help.

Is there a reason why the table and chairs are pushed into the corner? I'd pull them out and make the table almost centre. I'd put a trailing plant on top of that boiler cupboard.

The boiler cupboard makes sense, but I think it could be fitted a bit better? It currently looks like a single cupboard that has been dumped in the the corner - it doesn’t seem to touch the side wall. It would look better if it was fitted against the wall. Is it possible to re-fit it? Also the height looks a bit odd - could you add a cupboard on top to enclose the whole corner, or perhaps fit a cornice?

Thanks for all the suggestions. Moved it around a bit and i think the chair(s) would be better under the window with a new kitchen table more central in the room. If we keep the chair will likely buy a second to create more of an area under the window. Plus rug and pictures and a hanging plant and i think it might work!

Definitely much better already! I was going to suggest a tall lamp. I think with the lamp, a plant & artwork you’ll create more ‘height’ to the room which will detract from the cupboard.

That’s looking so much better. How about adding some seat pads to soften the area and add comfort to those chairs. Perhaps something like this. The change won’t cost much, then add your rug, pictures and plants for a cohesive warmer look.

You could get a build in banquet (window seat) that could incorporate the boiler cupboard & make the most of the shape of the window. Then table in front and add sone chairs or bench the other side - then layer the whole look with cushions etc .

I would get a round table and move it centrally. i also really like the idea you had with the 2 chairs in the bay window. alternatively a built in bench in the window (with cushions etc) would also work nicely with a round table. I’d also get a rug and some plants. It’s a lovely space - well done!

Why don’t you add like a fitted booth seating to the corner with the boiler in. Then you could use your new chair to the other side of the table and possibly get a couple more.

I would put an island in the middle of the room. Integrated under counter fridge. Over hang on the worktop to accommodate stools and build a small neat seat under the window. Looks to be plenty of floor space if the table was gone

Already looks better. I would swap out the table for a round one and some fabric dining chairs. I think you could do with some colour on the walls in the dining area. Could be a feature wall or half painted wall across the corner to ’zone’ the dining /seating area. A rug would also help with zoning.

The boiler cupboard could do with some trim so it looks built in rather than a freenstanding unit.

Some artwork or a mirror would work for the wall adjacent to the window.

Have you thought about having a bench made? I just had a local carpenter make me one, and brought the foam for the seats on www.fchancoxfoam.co.uk and am covering them myself! Think it would work really well in the space you have :)
