Can I put a kitchen with an extractor fan in a living space where there is a woodburning stove
Comments (2)I assume you mean a wood burning stove as fireplace as opposed to a wood burning stove as cooking stove? Takes all kinds to make a world and it's not the first time I've seen the idea. It depends on the strength of the fan. Pulling too many cubic feet per minute may suck smoke and carbon monoxide into the living area from the stove. Make up air ventilation, outside air, is required for fans over a certain CFM. I can't quote code on this one, but the make up air prevents negative pressure within the house. A sealed combustion firebox is probably OK, the air for combustion on such a unit would also come form outside. The EPA rated wood burning fireplace from Fireplace Xtrodinaire is an example. Hope this helps...a call to your local building department may answer your question better....See MoreComplete kitchen revamp ideas
Comments (3)Hi all..Recently bought a 2 bed terrace. The kitchennever updated and is quite the eyesore ! Im looking to carry out a complete revamp. I'm at a loss as to how to make best use of the space. It's the one space I like to spend time in.. no kids so not a consideration.I will attach some measurements and photos. I would love to get some views/opinions from you. Unfortunately I just don't have a great eye for this .It is a compact size I guess. Dining will be in kitchen also.I'm not too bothered about separate table. Love the idea of breakfast bar/small island/ galley style but I'm not sure if space allows.Ideally I'd like to extend out the back garden but it's just too expensive for now.Moving rads.. knocking internal walls etc are all things I'd def considerAll ideas welcome. Comments (0)Hi, Just wondering if anyone would have any ideas for what to use the spaces off our kitchen for. These are very rough drawings to give an idea of the layout. The kitchen/diner were renovated a couple of years ago, but budget restrictions meant we didn't come up with plans for the area at the top right of the drawing. The small room on the extreme top right has a sink and some shelves. We have been using it to store our paint and accessories while DIYing the rest of the house. The space to the left of this, we built a partition wall to separate it from the kitchen and we have a freezer, some shelves, hoover, ironing board etc there. While it is very useful, we feel that the usage of the front utility room is not being maximised, and the partitioned area is a bit of a dumping ground. We have a utility room for washing machine/dryer out the back on this floor, so we don't need that. Any ideas/suggestions would be really gratefully received. Thanking you so much, Jen...See MoreKitchen/Living/Dining Room Renovation - Ideas Needed!
Comments (1)Hi, what a lovely "canvas" to begin! My late husband loved wood. I think it is too drab and have changed mine for glass and various off whites as the rooms are non-square here and the house is old but takes modern too. My gut feeling is that the way forward is to choose an exciting "theme" for downstairs first. Would you consider bright and airy sky, or tropical, or geometric, or bookish, or carnival, or countryside, what about a space rocket on the wall for the kids - it can be covered when they grow tired of it? And as it is it has my pet hate - a good window - wasted - with a grim reminder of housework - a sink in front of it instead of one out of sight with a strip light over it!!!!...See MoreEllie
