Flush threshold doors to patio

Hi - I’m looking for a flush patio to the threshold of my doors at the back garden

Everyone I talk to say that will cause a bit of a problem and you should look at a step down. I mean it must be possible given all the glossy photos in mags and also watching Grand Design

Any one done this to their home- have any pics and what problems did you have and how did you overcome?

    Mine is almost flush, but the builder put in a drain along the house to stop any water coming into the house and it does do the job.
