A 1400 is very all for an island, the kitchen space is small enough that I'd say you might as well make it u shaped. Can you sketch the floorplan with measurements as there may be a better option
Hi Ellie - the island is 1846 mm but that leaves only 770mm towards the window which makes that gap effectively a dead space (IMO). I just realised I’ve made the mistake of saying it’s 1400mm. With 1400mm the gap would be over 1m on either side, but as you say it doesn’t leave much of an island.
Also consider the space you need to get the FF out for servicing etc …. The peninsula offered a tad more room by the look of it ?! But what’s the gap between the peninsula and the hob area ? As you need crouch room infront of oven.
