I'm looking for advice on what material to use for a clear roof veranda. It needs to be strong for wind and winter snow but mainly be clear to allow daylight through. It will be quite big. Picture attached is only an idea.
Mine is the same as that first image. We had to replace ours as it was old and leaking. Mine was from a company in Aldridge but can’t recall their name nor can I see them when I quickly Google the area but there must be loads selling the same product.
They offered from recollection 3 colours/tints and we went with clear. As our kitchen is north facing and dark we too wanted to let the light through but where we sit on the sofa it’s too bright through the panels so we had to resort to making our own interior roof cover purely so we could sit underneath it in the summer.
Our other older roof was better. With this one when it rains it clatters. The other one didn’t but that company went bump otherwise we would have had the same again.
It’s plenty strong enough for wind and snow protection. The main nuisance is the brightness in the intense sunlight (hence the roof lining) and the rain clatter.
Here’s mine ….. and we love sitting in the garden room.
It’s polycarbonate. Loads online. The bigger sheets need intermediate fixings in them. We had to add extra supports which was one reason we preferred our original sheets.
Quick hose off once a year and the brush to wipe away debris. Job done.
