Under stair storage

I am looking to maximise the under stair storage space please.
This opens into the dining room and is about 60 inches deep with the stair sloping in to the end of the space.
I am looking for ideas to add shoe shelves, clever way of hanging the coats and creating a very tiny pantry if possible.
I will be very grateful for ideas or examples please. Thank you

Some cube units at the rear could work for shoes. Baskets for each person maybe? The coat rail might do better a little higher. I see there is a rack for the iron board, use it to keep that item clear of the floor. Use of the walls to hang but would not look to shelving as this would only make it harder to get to the rear.

Thank you for your feedback, I think cube units are a very good idea. The rear space is the one which needs to be better used. Pull out baskets could be an answer.

It seems that 2 story houses are becoming much more the norm here. At least in the metro areas. People are wanting bigger houses and builders can get more house on less land. Mattresses, box springs and dressers have to be the WORST things to get up stairs ;-) I love the look of staircases and love the view a 2nd story provides. I'll tell ya though - we're not elderly (YET!) but I love not carrying laundry and other items up and down stairs ;-)

If it's done smartly, shelves and doors won't necessarily make the space feel closed in. You could have a built-in seating/platform with a couple of shelves above, or all shelves for different functions, maybe a small home office...? Or you could have a slim mirror (in the space between the door and top of stairs, and then just hooks for the little one(s) coats, rucksacks, etc. Or if you want storage, you could have cupboards recessed so they don't close off the front. Or, why not a small fancy bar? :))

Hi all. Looking for advice on using this space under our stairs. Have seen many lovely reading nooks/ bench ideas but our problem is there is no ‘end wall’ to join a bench on to as there is a door into the kitchen area. Think it would look strange to come out of the kitchen and have a low bench area protruding out but maybe it wouldn’t 🤷🏻‍♀️ Have a console table on the other side of the hall so reluctant to put anything like that in the space. Any suggestions much appreciated!
