Need help with my Hallway and stairs area
Comments (3)Empty out the furniture and fixtures there, including the lamp and ceiling fixture.Use a storage bench instead for a place to sit and remove shoes. Shoes or backpacks can be dropped inside it. You can get much better lighting from a fixture that has lights to wash the ceiling and to light the floor. What is under your stairs? Do you have room to install some storage there? Pull out stair drawers might work for shoes, and you might add some pull outs under the stairs if they are suited for it. A foyer should serve to introduce you, your style and the decor to be expected in the adjoining rooms. I would key furnishings and paint to what is going on in the rooms left and right of the foyer. Everything I see hanging on the walls is hung too high. The general rule is that the center point of a single piece or a grouping should be 5' above the floor. If the first piece at the bottom of the stairwell is hung at that level, you can use painter's tape to tape the center line all the way up the stairs and arrange pictures above and below the line, with a few centered right on it for a more pleasant arrangement. Not knowing much about the rest of your home or your personal style, I might suggest you paint a soft color like Sherwin WIlliams Sea Salt....See Moregrey paint in north facing bedroom

Moved in 6 wks ago, stairs is the usual pine and I was thinking of doing the whole off white spindles & step risers, dark walnut stained handrail & step tops going up. I am nervous as my walls are painted a lovely natural cream, the floor is crema marfil high gloss tiles. Started on the skirtings, architraves and doors downstairs in Dulux Satinwood Antique White over the last few days and I am starting to think the white stairs may clash with the cream & antique white...See MoreBEFORE and AFTER - Victorian Dublin terrace
Comments (0)BEFORE AFTER This is a Victorian terrace that was purchased in a poor state and needed a full refurbishment to improve the energy rating for cosiness and thermal efficiency, as much as the aesthetics for comfort and beauty in the home. Timeless Sash Windows were delighted to be commissioned to work on all the original old timber sash windows in the property – reapiring or replacing the sashes where necessary and renovating the frames in situ. Here are some images of the property as it was before the renovations began: To maintain the heritage of the property and the area, we keep the original designs of the timber sashes combined with the latest techniques in the manufacture of timber windows. The owners chose to paint the windows RAL 9016 white inside, to brighten the rooms, yet have a modern and fashionable look outside by painting with Farrow & Ball ‘Railings’. You can see from the photos below, the look that is achieved with two tone painting, and is the ultimate in design flexibility. These are some more photos After the project was completed: Summary: Timber – Mahogany Paint interior – RAL 9016 Paint exterior – Farrow & Ball Railings Ironmongery – Satin Chrome Glazing – 4 /4 /4 double glazed slim units with Krypton gas and a warm edge black spacer bar, toughened glass U-value – 1.8- 1.9...See MoreSonia
