I don't understand how to turn my heating off in my new house.

I don't know how to turn the heating off in my new house. The boiler is a worcester Greenstar 36 CDI compact boiler and when I moved in there was no thermostat. So I don't know if there is supposed to be a thermostat or not. If there is supposed to be one can I buy any thermostat or does it have to be a worcester one.
Any information would be amazing.

Also, you should be able to turn the radiators off individually which will help. Angie

Hi Janis Unfortunately I am not in the Boston area - I live in Ireland! Yes there are red items in 3 of the main rooms, the kitchen, sitting room and tv room (library) - although we have pared those back now and it's not as overwhelming. thanks for all your help everyone, i really feel like it's made a big difference and am excited to finish the tv room and then refresh the play room. do you think I should move the piano to the sitting room? and would the jazz painting work in the tv room? speak later, thanks!

Hi ...Zaz I am not sure what went on here in Houzz .... While I have been away ..(sneezing coughing sweating) Whatever it was Move on from it !! as best you can ... Lovely, much better than the 3D plan. V glad you kept your patterned floor tiles, I really like them. It's all come together very attractively. The only thing I'd change and this is just because I'm a colour freak is the pendants - I'd probably have made those red and orange or something. But congrats really, it looks great.

I come to the part of my build were I have to make a decision on how to heat it ! So far my spec for insulation in my 2200 sq ft house is .. A larger 150 mm cavity with higher amount of insulation (not sure I think 130mm), walls are going to be dry lined and extra insulation is going into the attic. The Windows are going be tribal glazed with the higher spec of insulation. Under floor heating upstairs and down. Now I've to make a decision on how to heat it !! Have I enough insulation that an oil boiler would be fine or should I go for geothermal or air to heat ? I don't have room for a wood chip burner even though they have become more compact.. I've heard such horror story's of electric bills with the "air to heat" but my house isn't to massive. If anyone has had any experience with these systems can you tell me about them. I did go to a building show and they all sound brilliant but the they are all trying to sell a product! Thank you

I can’t imagine having heating on just now! 🥵 If you have space in the fridge or freezer, pop your pillow or at least pillow slip in to get nice and cool before bedtime. And if you have a fan, put some ice and/or cold water in front of it so it blows cool air around the room. Then sit down and work your way through the operating instructions. If you have a hot water cylinder you can turn the boiler right off and get someone to look at it for you. Water will stay hot in the tank for a day or two if you don’t use too much.

That's such a good idea thanks so much. Definitely will be doing that with the night feeds tonight with my baby. Think I'll have to get someone out tomorrow. Thanks again for all the advice 🥰

My thermostat broke down recently but on the ON position, boy it was hot! We have individual radiator thermostats so we turned them all off until the plumber came to fix it or at least fit a new thermostat. Hope it is sorted for you very soon.

Hi Natalie,

If it's a new house then it might have a wireless thermostat. It may be in a drawer or cupboard somewhere?
