Dishwasher too close to wall, any suggestions for dirty wall splash?

We made a mistake on designing our kitchen and put e dishwasher right next to the side wall. This means we get dirty splashes up the side wall. I’ve attached a couple of photos to illustrate. I’ve got the painter in today to freshen up so I’m looking for suggestions on how we can mitigate going forward? Any treatment or top cost on the paint which would be wipeable? I had considered a small section of vinyl tiles but thought it would look odd in just one location. Thanks.

Unfortunately my husband loads the dishwasher like a sociopath and you have to pick your battles.

Dulux do a washable paint which may do the job? Comes in lots of colours.

The answer is to load more carefully, maybe just by one person. My dishwasher is also next to a wall. I make sure all liquids go down the sink first and the only splashes I get are occasional from incompletely drained coffee cups loaded in too much of a hurry. A wipe down every now and then and the few splashes are gone. The paint is just bog standard F & B estate emulsion.

It looks very good James. Even though as you say it was a clients design build, it works fine. Once the Island has stools it will fill it out better. Has that naked look at the moment. The position of the wine rack might cause issues but overall it looks like a really clean and fresh kitchen. Plenty of natural light and the colours compliment each other. The extractor is a nice feature too. Everyone has different opinions as I see on here but if the client is happy with it then job done. Looks really well fitted too.....well done :)

Hello trifides, What about chrome? Good at reflecting light.. A dual fuel Smeg range for example... A Dualit chrome toaster.. Architect kettle also Dualit.. Shiny elements will really pick up the light.. With the cabinets and the flooring, consider textures and warm elements to boost the look.. I think chrome is a good addition.. as both red and orange might clash with the flooring and cabinets in the colour and finish you have.. Think of other textures and materials you can introduce ...Chopping boards are lovely stacked and marble is another lovely material to use.. Pestle and mortar and a cheese board (I use mine for toast etc.... (Anthropologie and Habitat.. Maybe you want a cream Smeg retro style fridge.... You could then have some cream tiles or a creamy coloured granite for a splash back.. Then maybe a cream Aga... If you were replacing the worktop.. I'd suggest having an upstand as I love this sleek finish.. You can add the same material behind the oven to compliment.. Keep the worktop as clear as possible and a potted rosemary or two could be lovely... Of course the other thing I could suggest is painting the cabinets should you want to consider that as an option for you.. : ))

Here's a few images and an edging on a runner can be lovely too... I have also included one of a painted stair... I rinse off and carefully place mine in the dishwasher. Alfhough mine isn’t next to a wall I don’t get splashes on the floor or adjoining fascias.

Maybe get an acrylic sheet or glass cut to size, to affix to the wall at the same height as your upstand or the worktop? Fix with some nice screw caps.

Colleen… I concur with Wumi, either an acrylic or glass “splash back” cut to size would be an ideal solution. You can get them in a bespoke colour to match your paint, in a matt finish, etc. All about £100 or so and can be organised online.

You can chose what plastic you want, they'll cut it down to your dimensions, and will add a radius on the edges and/or holes for a small fee. Shouldn't cost you more than £40 + delivery.

I had this prblem in my holiday let cottage, by the sink and behind the bin, we used glass and had it painted to match the walls then professionally installed no screw holes or covers almost seemless. each panel was about £100 fitted. we also had a splashback fitted in a different coour behind the hob. now thinking about doing it in my own kitchen.

Im currently designing my new kitchen and my dishwasher is next to a wall. I’m looking for ways to mitigate this issue as my hubby loads the dishwasher like a rabid raccoon. I’m interested in this idea! Do you have any pics that show your solution? I know this post is old
