Gardens Exteriors Design Dilemma

garden wall colour?

Hello!

Just after a bit of advice - We are in the process of doing our garden up. We need to now think about the colour of the wall and the colour of the tiles. I’m thinking sandtex Vermont grey for the wall (which will have wood cantilever seating in) and then a lighter coloured porcelain tile for the floor and steps. But I really don’t want to get it wrong so would love to hear thoughts :)

Keep it classic and simple - something like these?
I always find grey walls in gardens date. Unless you go for a real statement dark colour which you have to bravely go for.

Hi lots of different options and ideas going on. I had a similar wall and understand how mean it can be to little ones. I bought and put up the expanding wood trellis. This instantly covered the area at a very reasonable price. I then planted quick growing climbing plants. I'm not a great gardener so I cant remember what i had but ask at the garden centre they will advise you. But at least you have a barrier in place to minimize accidents.

Thanks for the advice. I've just finished undercoating it white and it's very very bright (dazzling even). You would need to constantly wear sunglasses looking at it.

North facing garden

Hi everyone, Me and my boyfriend are looking at buying a new house with a north facing garden. On all the sides of the garden there are concrete walls which separate the property from its neighbors. Would this be something that would stop you from buying a house? Are there any tricks that i could use to maximize the light in the garden? The first ideas that come to mind are painting the concrete walls in a warm cream color for example, i could improvise and paint one wall with a softer orange or green color etc. I would greatly appreciate your advice and any suggestions. I think white or palest grey would look good. When choosing porcelain tiles don’t go too pale as it does show all dirt and can be difficult to clean if it is the R13 grade non slip variety.

Bear in mind that if you have porcelain tiles on your steps, they don't have finished edges - you see the interior of the tile.
