Where to place door
Comments (5)Hi Bernice - the space by the brown doors needs to be relatively clear for door access - so as the door through as the new opening will also require clearance - that might be a better place to put it ( ie nearer the outside door ) If you do a sketch plan of this room and the living room on the other side of the wall - with how you propose to have your furniture in both rooms - this will help locate the best place . With the info given at the moment - I would say the best place is close to the French doors . And as for size - well for aesthetics - I would echo the French door size ! ( so will need quite a big pocket door hidden in the wall !!) Looks like a fun project ! I have the same toaster and kettle set as you !! I really hope that you aren't having to cope with no kitchen for long ?!?! :-)...See MoreSliding door/ divider ideas
Comments (29)With a sliding door, you can have each side different to match the style of the room it faces. Here are some ideas that, believe it or not, are done with sharpies on flat surfaces. I can envision a "fireplace" on the lounge side. On the dining room side, you could do the "double door" look, by putting half on the door, and half on the wall next to the door. So when the door is closed, it looks like a pair of doors, but when the door is slid open it looks like only one door (but it's the wall!) I added the 3rd picture just because I think it's so cool. I believe the only "real" thing in the room is the glass table/desk, and the filing cabinet....See MoreBest light gray for a small and very bright living room
Comments (1)Hi, I think any of those 3 could look good, with white elsewhere as a contrast and bringing in some bright warm colours with cushions, throws etc. We repainted our house last year and used Farrow and Ball colours - Elephants Breath is very popular and looks great in our living room, we used their darker greys in our sitting room and hall. You can get Dulux to mix FandB colours so it works out cheaper if you like. I was afraid of it being cold or dark but love it!...See MoreKitchen plan advice/critique
Comments (1)I don't think you will ever regret siting the sink away from the window as this, I feel, is always mistake No. 1 - what a waste of light!! I have divided my square kitchen into three: a "U-shaped", "ergo-thingamy" kitchen, a laundry, and a scullery. The two big windows cut the number of cupboards down drastically on two walls. The surface under the windows is a joy as I can work inspired by the view and the sink has a strip light over it central to the room. The doors are at diagonal corners. Do try writing down what is to go in each cupboard as this makes for a comfy to use kitchen in the long term. Enjoy....See Morejoannemorrison99
