Need help deciding what to use to floor my hallway!!
Comments (8)Maybe if you stuck to one colour scheme such as white and purple or grey and lime green, colours that compliment each other. You could have a cabinet on the larger side with some family photos or a mirror above it and maybe a single colour on the top half of the wall and a complimentary wallpaper on the bottom half. You could go for wood on the floor or a simple soft carpet but it might get muddy. You could also have a bench with storage underneath for shoes and bags, but try get a colour that matched the walls. You could also paint the banisters if they don't match the rest of the room....See Morefloor tiles
Comments (4)Hi @mjdpower, My suggestion is to go to a couple of floor specialist and ask as they may come up with something different. Whatever you do keep in consideration the size of the room and think on a long term: a poor quality finish could effect your property price in a space as important as the kitchen. I will try something that allow you to go back to your original tiles floor if things do not work out the way you want them to go. A cheap way is to cover the tiles with vinyl and here is how to do it: http://www.doityourself.com/stry/how-to-install-vinyl-flooring-over-ceramic-tiling#b the adhesive should not stain or damage the tiles (ask the manufacture before doing it anyway!) and you have a large choice of design and colours. Paint tiles could be another option, not my favourite but an option. I found this blog where Curry Kay describe step by step how she's did it. It's American USA but it will give you an idea to start with. https://currykay.wordpress.com/2011/03/01/powder-room-brand-new-floor-painting-tile-tutorial/comment-page-1/ Be aware that the kitchen is a high usage room so the paint will take a good bashing and may wear off. Plus the final look on a large surface like the kitchen area could be not as good as on a splash back or smaller vertical surface. I hope it helps! Have fun!...See MoreChoosing floor tile!
Comments (17)I am back again. I decided against the tile originally proposed as the advice here was totally right, the tile had a strong pink/salmon tone. Thanks so much to everyone. I have been searching again and attached is what I am now thinking of going for. I think this tile is very neutral, should match a lot of colours, is warm and easy to keep. It should also match a modern kitchen. Opinions please!!!...See MoreHelp needed with stair colour
Comments (2)Thanks jacksplash, was going dark but I have floorboards painted the same colour as the stairs is currently, on the landing too and these would then have to be dark also. Worried in case that would make the whole space too dark. Today I was considering a colour darker than the marble on the wall but somewhere on that tone, which could work better upstairs. Questions, questions??? It's the last place to be painted since the renovations but painters leaving next week so I need to get a move on...See Morekazzh
