Dress a window without curtains?

Hey,

I’m hoping for some design ideas around how to dress a window that doesn’t have space for curtains. The window itself has PerfectFit blinds inside but nothing around it, I’ve always had curtains in other properties but unfortunately that’s not an option here. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can dress it so it won’t look so bare?

Both my lounge and dining windows have no curtains or blinds and I'm keeping them that way. We are not overlooked, don't need privacy and windows look out to all greenery which I don't want to hide. Curtains can often hide beautiful windows

My sister has no curtains or blinds in her new kitchen/dining/living room. I’ve found that if you have some garden lighting at night then you don’t have that black wall of window reflecting back at you. if you want more dressing, do you have room for dress curtains which are not as full and don’t actually close fully. They are just there for decor.

I have to agree that glass film is brilliant- we used Purlfrost online. You can either pre measure and they will cut for you you or you can buy a piece and cut to your own specs. It arrives rolled in a tube. We've done two rooms- the living room with full frost and the other, a bedroom- with just the bottom half of the window covered which looks pretty modern and sharp. It was supposed to be a temporary solution till we got shutters organised but it looks so effective and fresh that we've decided to save the small fortune that shutters cost! The help line was great- they recommended leaving a gap around the edge near the frame for a beveled glass effect which did actually work! You can get different levels of opaqueness - we used the less opaque for more light but still private- or patterns or stained glass effect. Its really easy to apply yourself too, and apparently comes off with no damage to the glass at all, so good if. Works out really economical as well. Can you tell I'd recommend it?! :)

Thank you for your suggestion....one option that I had considered was something like the below - having double curtains (one voile,and one heavy curtain). Do you think that this could work in my space? Also, just to note, the curtain pole (and everything else in the room will be going, as this is the previous owners furniture), so I am not restricted to the curtain pole that is currently in the original picture. Hey Oldholly, Are you changing the glass to clear or keeping them frosted? If you are keeping them frosted, would you consider aluminium venetians? You can add a bit of colour if desired but with them, you can also allow light in while covering up the frosted glass. If you are changing the glass, you could consider roller blinds or roman blinds both adding a touch of class if the right fabrics are selected. Hello, We extended our living room into the kitchen and now have a couple of arched windows a rectangular window and French doors in the room. My question is, should we put curtains on all windows and doors or curtains on some and blinds on others? Any advice appreciated.

Unfortunately I’ve got pretty basic looking windows and I’m in the middle of a new build estate so no privacy at all... guess I rolled double 1’s twice :’(

Due to the compact room layout I’ve got to put a sofa under the window so it means no curtains at all.

It seems to me your only option is as Sonia suggests....dress curtains. I have those in two rooms where full curtains are impractical.

Can you confirm whether the room is a kitchen, lounge, bedroom...? This will have a bearing on what type of window dressing you choose. To add warmth, colour and texture to a room then fabric is always a lovely option, providing the room doesn’t get steamy or damp. As curtains aren’t an option for you, consider roman blinds. These can be set within your window recess which takes up no wall space at all and will still allow lots of light into the room as well as having blackout lining options, to keep the light out when needed. Another option worth considering are plantation shutters, as these again are recessed into the window, allowing plenty of light in as well as providing privacy. I hope that helps.
