Need ideas for family room
Comments (12)Actually neutral rooms are very classy :) And adding a hand-knotted New Zealand wool carpet such as the one I've pictured would add a lot of coziness and ground the space, while complementing your striped chair. Small accents of colour can be added in artwork and on new sofa cushions. The fireplace makes a bold statement in the room, which could be compromised by giving the walls equal weight with bold colour. I understand that this is your family room, where you will be relaxing at the end of a long day and watching television. Therefore a calm, relaxing (yes, neutral!) colour scheme will achieve that. The charcoal grey drapes I described above should have lining, and they will add to the warmth of the room at night so you're not looking at cold black glass that's reflecting the room back to you. The colour scheme you have now is actually very nice--it just needs punching up a little with additions such as I described....See MoreNeed help with with sitting room - Ireland
Comments (14)What an awkward space! The door opens into the room where the hearth juts out, making it even narrower. In an ideal world I would want to make the fireplace smaller (a flat hole in the wall with no hearth) and change the door to open outwards. However I'm guessing they may not be options! You need the room to work in 2 ways, one as a cosy space for the adults in the evening and the other as a larger clear space for the kids during the day, a tough call! I would consider dividing the room into 2 defined areas, one for kids and one for adults. The adult space should be at the window end and mean moving the TV to the other side of the fireplace. The sofa could go under the end window and 2 chairs either side. This will be a tight fit, would you consider buying a new L shaped one in a more compact design? This could sit by the radiator with a chair opposite. A rug and coffee table would further define this space and make it feel cosy. At the other end, you could place your toy storage behind the door, (maybe invest in some more!) and then bean bags could give the kids some seating for watching TV and playing games. The TV being freestanding could swivel according to day/night position. I hope that gives you some ideas, I'll try to find some photos to illustrate what I mean! Good Luck!...See MoreNew kitchen, but just not working.
Comments (448)fragle0 ... congratulations on the new addition to your family. Have been following your lovely changes. You probably won't have time to work on the decor for a while. Just wanted to suggest that you try pulling the nesting tables forward to be more in line with front of the chairs & placing your floor lamp to the back of them. This will give a bit more light at night for reading in that area. Also switching the plant by the fireplace & the one on the corner by the sofa....See MoreIs this kitchen to minimum or just right ???
Comments (37)It looks very good James. Even though as you say it was a clients design build, it works fine. Once the Island has stools it will fill it out better. Has that naked look at the moment. The position of the wine rack might cause issues but overall it looks like a really clean and fresh kitchen. Plenty of natural light and the colours compliment each other. The extractor is a nice feature too. Everyone has different opinions as I see on here but if the client is happy with it then job done. Looks really well fitted too.....well done :)...See Morerinked
